Kaleidoscope, which means “a series of changing phases or events,” is the school newspaper, which was started as a joint project for the boys’ and girls' schools in 1979. Interested students now enroll in Journalism I or II and learn the basics of news, feature, and sports writing, photography, layout, graphics, and editorial policy. Students can then become the editors, reporters and photographers for Kaleidoscope, which is distributed once a month.
PRISMS
PRISMS is the SJND student literary art magazine. PRISMS has won numerous national awards and an increasing number of PRISMS contributors successfully submit their work to outside publications.
Yearbook
The SJND yearbook Reflections is a publication that acts as a mirror to the images and events that define each school year. As an academic class, students learn the tools and trade of publishing, including journalism, design, layout, photography, digital imaging, and desktop technology. As a job, students create a 216-page award winning book (2005-2006) that reflects a documentary and creative vision of our extraordinary life at SJND.
Update
Update magazine is SJND’s alumni publication. Update is published twice a year and features campus and alumni news as well as SJND’s annual “honor roll” lists of donors. Update is produced by the SJND Advancement Department. If you have alumni news you'd like to share, please use our online update form.
Website Photography
Throughout the year, SJND students taking photography courses staff school events, games, and activities as photographers for various school publications, including the school's website. Many of the photographs used in this site are student work.
