Presidential Scholarships
Freshman applicants to Saint Joseph Notre Dame may be considered for one of several Presidential Scholarships offered each year. These scholarships award $10,000 over the course of four years ($2,500 per annual award) to students who demonstrate strong character and extraordinary academic promise through their schoolwork and High School Placement Test (HSPT) scores. Students may nominate themselves or be nominated by a teacher, counselor, or principal. Renewal of the Presidential Scholarship awards is reviewed annually. Presidential Scholarship Application
Shadow Day Visits
Tuesdays starting on Oct. 7, 2008
Shadow Day visits are the best way to experience SJND first-hand. You will be paired up with a current student who will guide you through a half day in the life of a Pilot. You will have the opportunity to participate in classes, socialize with students, interact with our faculty, and enjoy all that SJND has for you. Parents are invited for a 45-minute admissions process overview and tour. Visiting SJND for the day is easy. Simply contact
, Director of Admissions at 510-814-7153. Visits are held in the morning one day a week, generally on Tuesday, from Oct. 7, 2008 through February 2009. Space is limited so call early for a reservation.
Open House
Oct. 26, 2008, 1:30 p.m.–4 p.m.
Open House is a great opportunity to tour the campus, get insight from students about their SJND experience, meet faculty members and administrators, and witness our student talent.

. SJND provides a college preparatory education with a wide range of opportunities to develop your skills and talents. You must prove academic ability in addition to good citizenship, effort, and attendance.
Prospective students will be assessed on the following:
Completed application
Academic transcripts/grade reports from the prior two years
Completed teacher and principal/counselor recommendation form
Students applying for the ninth grade are required to take the High School Placement Test (HSPT).
Student and Parent/Guardian Interview

The Student and Parent/Guardian Interview is a required part of the admissions process. The interview gives SJND a chance to learn more about the prospective family and allows the family to ask questions about SJND. The interviews last approximately 15-20 minutes. Families can sign up for their interview date and time on the day of the HSPT. Those who do not test at SJND will be contacted by the Admissions Office.
Teacher and Principal/Counselor Recommendation Form

All prospective students are required to submit a completed teacher and principal/counselor recommendation form.
Financial Aid Deadline (Incoming Freshmen)
Feb. 6, 2009
Financial Aid forms should be completed and mailed or turned in to the SJND Business Office at 1119 Lafayette St., Alameda, CA 94501. Incoming freshmen are urged to return these forms no later than Feb. 6 to be considered early for an award. Students who received FACE or BASIC awards in the 2007-08 school year must submit their application to be considered for an award for the 2008-09 school year.
Families who submit their application materials by Jan. 9, 2009 will be considered in the first pool of applicants. Letters of notification will be mailed on March 6, 2009.
